Collection: GATHERED IMPRESSIONS

Where the Field is Gathered

Gathered from coastal dunes, meadow, field, and wild edge, each botanical element in this series is hand-selected and carefully pressed by CEDAR Y SAND. Set upon our signature Suminagashi marbled paper—where ink drifts in soft, organic currents—these works bring together the spontaneous movement of water with the quiet structure of preserved flora.

In this series, pressed botanicals are composed by hand into one-of-a-kind arrangements. Flowers, grasses, seed heads, and delicate stems are considered individually, then brought together through balance, line, color, and form. Some compositions gather with the abundance of a wild bouquet; others retain the spare, upright rhythm of a meadow left to grow.

Each botanical was gathered in East Hampton, NY, preserving something of the landscape and season from which it came. The marbled backgrounds introduce another element of chance—no two Suminagashi patterns can be repeated—making every finished composition entirely singular.

Each piece is professionally mounted in an archival mat and arrives ready to frame. Part of the Suminagashi Impressions collection within the larger Suminagashi Springs body of work, Gathered Impressions reflects an ongoing exploration of place, season, natural form, and the handmade process.
