Crafted by CEDAR Y SAND in our East Hampton studio, Tinned Sardines Bookmark Set transforms an everyday pantry staple into an unexpected companion for the well-read.

Inspired by the humble sardine tin and the quiet beauty of traditional Suminagashi marbling, each bookmark pairs an original hand-drawn sardine with a reverse of hand-marbled paper created through the centuries-old Japanese art of floating ink upon water. Every marbled pattern forms naturally, ensuring that no two sardines are ever exactly alike.

Tucked inside a custom die-cut paper tin, the three bookmarks sit neatly packed together until called into service. Slide one between the pages of a favorite novel, cookbook, field guide, or journal, where only its curious little head peeks above the page—waiting patiently to guide you back.

Designed as both a functional bookmark and a small work of paper art, each sardine is individually die-cut from heavyweight cardstock and finished by hand.
