A Coastal Botanical in Crimson Tides
Collected near Sammy’s Beach in East Hampton, this vivid red seaweed specimen was carefully pressed and preserved by hand. Its bold, fan-like structure and deep ruby color are layered over a softly marbled suminagashi paper in stone grey—a blend of contrast and calm, tide and terrain.
Marbled by Water, Framed by Hand
The swirling background is created using the ancient Japanese technique of suminagashi—ink floated on water and transferred to paper—evoking the shifting currents of the shoreline. The ruby-toned seaweed, collected with care, is carefully composed to preserve its natural form, bringing sculptural energy to the softened tide.
Mounted & Ready to Frame
This piece is professionally matted in an off white archival mat, measuring 10×10", with an 8¼ × 8¼" opening. It is square in format and ready to drop into a standard frame. One-of-a-kind and assembled in our East Hampton studio, this work reflects the stillness and strength found at the water’s edge.
Art from the Edge of the Bay
Perfect for coastal homes, collectors of natural science-inspired art, or anyone drawn to the rich hues of marine flora. This piece brings together the organic and the ornamental—both wild and meditative.
