A Sea Frond Still in Motion
This one-of-a-kind kelp specimen was hand-gathered the bay of Louse Point in Springs, East Hampton, and pressed onto our signature suminagashi paper in soft tide-washed hues. Each frond, splayed like wings, evokes motion stilled—natural grace caught mid-current. Part of our Pressed by the Sea series, it unites the ephemeral rhythm of the shore with the timeless art of marbled ink.
From Shoreline to Sheet
Using the Japanese technique of suminagashi, each background is hand-marbled to mimic the movement of water and air. Once dried, the paper becomes the setting for locally foraged marine flora—like this kelp blade—arranged and preserved with precision. The swirling ink creates a subtle contrast against the deep sea green and amber undertones of the natural specimen.
Matted & Ready for Display
Professionally mounted in an archival off white mat (9 X 12") with an image area of 5 1/2 X 8 1/2". Pressed and hand marbled with care, assembled by hand, and ready to frame—it brings a stillness to your space that feels both grounded and fluid.
A Tactile Gift from the Tide
Perfect for collectors of natural curiosities, ocean lovers, or anyone drawn to botanical minimalism. Each piece is a quiet portrait of coastal life—sustainably gathered, thoughtfully preserved, and never the same twice.
