Crafted by CEDAR Y SAND in our East Hampton studio, Botanical Words transforms language into living form. Each piece begins with hand-marbled Suminagashi paper—an ancient Japanese technique where ink drifts across water, creating fluid, wave-like patterns that can never be repeated.

Onto this organic ground, pressed botanicals are carefully composed by hand to form simple, evocative words. Each letter emerges not from drawn line, but from the natural curve of a stem or the quiet structure of a bloom—resulting in a composition that feels both intentional and entirely of nature.

A Study in Form and Feeling

Part of the Botanical Impressions collection within our Suminagashi Impressions series, each work balances movement and stillness. Soft marbled tones echo wind and water, while the pressed flora preserves a fleeting season—captured and held in time.

Available words include CALM, HOME, LOVE, WINE, and GIN, each offering its own quiet resonance—from restful simplicity to moments of gathering and celebration. No two pieces are ever alike; each reflects the singular rhythm of ink, water, and hand-selected botanicals.
